Stan Greene Memorial Scholarship Awards
In 2010, MVP was pleased to announce the establishment of the Stan Greene Memorial Scholarship Fund, the fund that will be giving out four special awards annually in memory of MVP?s founder. These competitive awards will cover the full tuition for multiple weeks of camp for boys and girls who have demonstrated accomplishments in the areas of community service or leadership. These are in addition to the hundreds of one-week scholarships that the MVP Community Outreach Program has always awarded. For instructions on how to apply for scholarships, please visit the scholarship award guidelines page on this website.
Stan Greene Community Spirit Award
The vision of Stan Greene, the founder of MVP Basketball Camp, was honored again this year with the presentation of the Stan Greene Community Spirit Award to Gayle Binney of The Dannon Company in White Plains, NY. For over 10 years Dannon has donated yogurt so that campers can have a healthy snack during their camp day. During the past two years Dannon has also paid for a nutritionist to speak at camp as part of MVP's Youth Development Initiative.
On the plaque reads one of Stan Greene?s favorite sayings: "The world may be different because you were important in the life of a child." At MVP, we believe in the importance of friendships between children of diverse backgrounds, we believe in the importance of learning about teamwork and fair play from caring coaches, and we believe our kids grow as a result of their MVP experience. That is what our Community Outreach Program is all about. We thank The Dannon Company for exemplifying the values of our founder.
